بند بگسل، باش آزاد اى پسر
چند باشى بند سيم و بند زر
O son, burst your chains and be free!
How long will you be a bondsman to silver and gold?
Ay beta! qaid ko tor, aazad ho ja
sonay, chandi ka qaidi kab tak rahe ga

جسم خاك از عشق بر افلاك شد
كوه در رقصآمد و چالاك شد
Through Love the earthly body soared to the skies:
the mountain began to dance and became nimble.
Khaaki jism ishq ki waja se aasmano par pohncha
Pahar nachne laga aur hoshyar ho gya

چون كه گل رفت و گلستان در گذشت
نشنوى ز ان پس ز بلبل سر گذشت
When the rose is gone and the garden faded,
you will hear no more the nightingale’s story.
Jab phool khatam hoa aur bagh jaata raha
Isk bad tu bulbul ki sarguzshat na sune ga

چون كه اسرارت نهان در دل شود
آن مرادت زودتر حاصل شود
When your heart becomes the grave of your secret,
that desire of yours will be gained more quickly.
Jab tera raaz dil main chupa ho ga
Teri wo muraad bht jald tujhko hasil ho jayegi

زر و نقره گر نبودندى نهان
پرورش كى يافتندى زير كان
If gold and silver were not hidden,
how would they get nourishment in the mine?
Sona aur chandi agr chupy na hoty
Tou kaan main parwarish kese paaty

وعده ها باشد حقيقى دل پذير
وعده ها باشد مجازى تاسه گير
There are true promises, grateful to the heart;
There are false promises, fraught with disquietude.
Sache wade dil pasand hoty hain
Aur jhooty wade pareshan karte hain

سينه خواهم شرحه شرحه از فراق
تا بگويم شرح درد اشتياق
I want a bosom torn by severance,
That I may unfold the pain of love-desire
Main esa seena chahta hoon jo judai se paara para ho

Everyone became my friend from his own opinion;
none sought out my secrets from within me
Har shakhs apne khayal k mutabiq mera yaar bana
Aur mere andar se mere raazon ki justjoo na ki

هر كسى كاو دور ماند از اصل خويش
باز جويد روزگار وصل خويش
Everyone who is left far from his source
wishes back the time when he was united with it
Jo koi apni asal se door ho jata hai
Wo apne wasal ka zamana phir talash karta hai

تن ز جان و جان ز تن مستور نيست
ليك كس را ديد جان دستور نيست
The body is not veiled from soul, or soul from the body,
yet none is permitted to see the soul.
Badan rooh se, aur rooh badan se chupi hoi nahi hai
lekin kisi k liye rooh ko dekhne ka dastoor nahi hai

بس دعاها كان ز ان است و هلاك ي
وز كرم مىنشنود زدان پاك
Many are the prayers which are loss and destruction,
and from kindness, the Holy God is not hearing them.
Boht c duayen jo nuqsan or halaqt hain
